Alternative Fishing Tourism

A unique experience offers us the joys of the sea, brings us closer to the fishing tradition of our land, while enjoying unique flavors. Fishing tourism combines it all.

Alternative Fishing Tourism

The brand new caique departs from the port of Karavos, in Aliveri, Evia, from spring 2025 onwards.

The morning departure marks the beginning of a unique fishing tourism experience in the waters of the island. The boat is adapted to modern safety requirements, welcomes visitors for an authentic acquaintance with the world of fishing. At the beginning we welcome you with appetizers, traditional dakos with grated tomato, olive oil and oregano. Necessary supplement and local cheese.

Journey to the Fishing Grounds
The journey to the fishing grounds takes almost an hour. During this route, we have the opportunity to comfortably enjoy the view of the coastline and learn about the history of the area from the experienced captain.

The Art of Fishing
Arriving at the point where the nets, pots and other fishing gear have been laid the day before, the process of their recovery begins.

Sustainable Fishing in Action
We are committed to the principles of sustainable fisheries. The smaller catches are carefully returned to the sea, a practice that ensures population conservation and the long-term viability of the profession. It is for our children and grandchildren. We must take care of the sea so that it takes care of us too.

From Sea to Fork
After the completion of the fishing, the experience is transferred to the gastronomic field. Meal preparation is a participatory process. Salads and fish soup are prepared, while the captain, taking on the role of chef, prepares the famous seafood pasta, fish and appetizers with fresh ingredients, and lots of love. All this time visitors enjoy swimming in wonderful crystal clear waters or fishing with their rod, line or snorkel.

Lunch with a View of the Big Blue
We enjoy the sea meal on the boat. The freshness of the ingredients, combined with the unique environment, creates an unforgettable dining experience. It’s like tasting the sea itself.

Return and Reflection
The return to the port marks the end of a day full of sea, flavors, combined with knowledge and experience. Participants leave with a deeper understanding of fishing tradition, the importance of sustainable fishing and the inextricable link between the sea, gastronomy and local culture. Fishing tourism is emerging as an example of responsible tourism, offering not only an authentic experience, but also raising awareness among visitors about the importance of conserving marine resources. At the same time, it contributes to the preservation of traditional professions and practices.
